DESINA, the acronym for ‘DistributEd and Standardised INstAllation’, is a global connection concept for components installed on machine tools, in control panels and machine wiring, to create economies on the installation, maintenance, storage and documentation cost levels.
Developed by the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW) in cooperation with automotive industry suppliers and customers, DESINA standards were conceived with the main goal of reducing costs for both manufacturers and end users.
To simplify installation, the VDW group has defined standard colours specific to cables according to their precise application. These RAL references (term now almost exclusively used to define a standardised colour palette) were created by the German RAL GmbH institute and were taken from a colour combination systems mainly used in Europe to describe powder paints and linings, but also widely used in the industrial world.
Specifically, Te.Co. cables meet DESINA standards that set the following colour code:
