One of the numerous new products TE.CO. has included in the electrical cables catalogue is the new AWM STYLE 21179 family of multicore cables, in double UL style, which will gradually replace the AWM STYLE 2587 cable family.
The new family of multicore cables
This new family of multicore cables complies with two UL standards and includes the 2587 90° 600V and 21179 90° 1000V styles. This is possible because the cables comply with the technical requirements of both styles, ensuring they can be used with a working voltage of up to 1000V (compared to the 600V of the 2587 style). Additionally, the cables are CSA approved and have CE marking, which means they can be used in the European and in the North American markets.
Features of the AWM STYLE 21179 -2587 multicore cables
The entire multicore cable family maintains the dual section, European system in mm2 and AWG North American system. Every marking also contains, at the beginning, the TE.CO. code and, at the end, the progressive size number.
In terms of size the external diameters are, in most cases, the same as those of the 2587 family.
In terms of fire performance the AWM STYLE 21179-2587 multicore cables have passed, in addition to IEC 60332-1-2 (test for vertical flame propagation for a single insulated wire or cable), the CEI 20-22 II and IEC 60332-3-24 tests for vertical flame spread of vertically-mounted bunched wires and cables.
