Profinet ist ein Bussystem, das die Kommunikation zwischen einem Controller/Supervisor und den jeweiligen Peripheriegeräten zur Eingabe bzw. Ausgabe festlegt.
Die Anlage besteht aus mehreren miteinander verbundenen Inseln. Die Verbindung kann über drei verschiedene Kanäle erfolgen: drahtloses Netz, Glasfaser oder Kupferkabel.
Die PROFINET-Kabel aus Kupfer werden in zwei Haupttypen eingeteilt:
– 2 zu einem Vierer verseilte Doppeladern in AWG22;
Der kompaktere und marktgängigere Typ.
– 4 einzeln verdrillte Doppeladern in AWG23 (Type A/B) oder AWG24 (Type C);
Eingesetzt in besonderen Fällen, in denen große Datenmengen erforderlich sind.
Ferner erfolgt eine weitere Unterteilung anhand der dynamischen Eigenschaften/ Anwendungseigenschaften des Kabels:
- Type A, Starres Kabel (eindrahtig) für Anwendungen in Festinstallationen.
- Type B, Flexibles Kabel (Leiter mit 7 Kapillaren) für Festinstallationen, gelegentliche Vibrationen oder Bewegungen.
- Type C, sehr flexibles Kabel (Leiter mit 7 oder 19 Kapillaren) für häufige mobile Anwendungen.
Die Verschaltungen erfolgen mit Steckern RJ45 und M12.
